Module 2: Typography

For this week's lesson, we focused on typography and map design. The lab primarily focused on labeling maps within proper guidelines and using typography elements that are conducive to expressing the maps' purpose in a way that is legible and effective. My map, the product of this lab, shows the most densely populated cities in the state of Florida, as well as relevant water features. My cities are all labeled in Tahoma, while my water features are labeled in Bohoini MT. The rivers are italicized while the swamps are not, in order to express movement in river features. For this lab we used ArcPro to label all of the relevant features, and then were able to make customizations to the map when we turned them in. I chose to create a star symbol for the capital city of Florida when I added it, changed the symbology of water features so that each feature had a different color, and changed the position of city names to make them more legible by making the labels on the  city layer an annotation.
