For this week's lab we focused on Isarithmic mapping, and created a precipitation map for Washington State using preexisting data and a few geoprocessing tools. First, we downloaded the data set and used the symbology function and precipitation color ramp to display the data. We then added hillshade to the map by using a geoprocessing tool and data that existed within the data set to display the elevation information. We then used the data we had to create a new map where rainfall was classed into 10 separate categories and then overlayed with contour lines that delineated the differences in rainfall. This map is known as a hypsometric tint map, and is often used for elevation.
