Module 2: LiDAR

For today's lab we reviewed LiDAR cloud data on the height of a portion of Shenandoah National park. We then used tools within ArcGIS to process the data to produce a raster image of canopy density within the portion of the park we looked at. We used a variety of tools to achieve this, beginning with the LAS data set to raster function that creates a raster from the LAS data that was provided. We also used the LAS to Multipoint tool to create counts of the bare earth (ground) and vegetation to then process the data for use in determining the density of biomass in the dataset (as pictured in the map displayed).
