Module 2.2: Surface Interpolation

Surface interpolations are easily influenced by the method used based on the consistency of sampling and the extremes of the data. Certain methods of interpolation are more accurate if there is a consistent plane (Spline) while inconsistent data works best with the IDW interpretation. Data points used in the Thiessen approach can give more accurate statistics, though the maps produced are not as helpful as the other interpolation methods. The image above demonstrates the Spline Tension method.
