Module 3.1 Scale Effect and Spatial Data Aggregation

For this week's lab we focused on scale and the effects on spatial data, as well as data distribution. Decreases in scale can greatly effect the accuracy and total area measurement of vector data, and decreases in scale can lead to the loss of smaller features. Raster data can also be heavily effected by a reduction in cell size, and the accuracy of the total overall view of the raster imagery can be skewed by the increase in cell size. Gerrymandering is the practice of effecting politics by effecting the borders of certain districts, and can be studied by measuring the patterns of spatial distributions
on a variety of scales.
